About Me

Joana Tasi

am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years in clinical practice walking alongside people struggling with a wide variety of life-issues that impact mental health and wellbeing, such as life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, sexual abuse, separations/divorce. As a mixed culture person, I particularly enjoy working with people struggling to adapt in unfamiliar settings.

I began my training for work with trauma at The DC Rape Crisis Center and stayed on to work with both individuals and groups for four years. I have advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, an approach that uses the body to access information and bring change. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), which is considered the gold standard for working with couples. Beyond that, I regularly participate in various consultations and trainings to both improve my own skills and help others.

My personal and professional life has provided me with opportunities to develop acute cultural sensitivity and broad trauma exposure. I grew up in Albania and have been living in the United States for 20 years, during which time I have become fluent in English and Spanish and have worked with people from many different backgrounds.
