Individual Therapy

Whether you have decided to seek help from a therapist because of something you have suffered, a struggle with a life issue, problem, or event, or if you simply need help navigating a rough patch, I am committed to providing you with treatment tailored to serve you in your unique circumstances. While partnering with you in the process, I integrate mindfulness-based techniques, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for symptom relief and the realization of the change you are seeking.

I have worked with people experiencing:

  • depression, anxiety/panic, bipolar disorder
  • relationship concerns with partners, family members, friends
  • infidelity
  • career issues, including exploring career change, work/family balance, and managing job loss
  • managing life transitions and stressors such as marriage, birth of a child,
  • internal conflict and indecision
  • chronic medical concerns
  • the impact of past trauma and PTSD
  • grief and loss
  • affair recovery
  • disconnection and loneliness

Couples Therapy

When people struggle in their most primary relationship, the whole world can seem upside down. Most couples struggle with similar issues that from the inside can look larger than life but can be worked out with a little help. But sometimes there are fundamental difficulties, hurts, or barriers that seem truly insurmountable.  Couples come to see me struggling with a variety of issues from both those categories, including:

  • trauma
  • life transitions (parenting, career, new baby)
  • infidelity, unresolved past hurts
  • depression/anxiety
  • lack of sexual and emotional intimacy
  • chronic conflicts
  • lack of communication and problem solving skills
  • conflicts involving money management

Couples often become frustrated after repeated attempts to resolve issues have only worsened the dynamics between them, trapping them in a negative pattern that includes feelings of isolation and disconnectedness. I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to help partners reduce tensions and negative interactions, build a stronger connection, and restore a sense of wellbeing in the relationship.

Emotionally Focused Therapy is an evidence-based approach, rigorously tested and proven to help couples and produce lasting results. EFT is one of the most researched and empirically validated experiential approaches that has been shown to improve emotional functioning and strengthen the bond between partners. EFT is based on adult attachment theory, which finds that we feel safer when we are emotionally bonded with another.

I am a Certified Therapist in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am a Lifetime member of ICEEFT (International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy) and through regular trainings and supervision I remain up-to-date with developments in the method.

EFT Supervision

As an ICEEFT Supervisor, I offer supervision to therapists who want to improve their EFT skills or are working toward certification.

These hours count towards the 8 hour requirement of individual supervision for EFT Therapist Certification.

Learning EFT can initially be overwhelming, as it comes with working with the messiness of emotions. My goal is to help you practice and perfect your new skills in different ways where making mistakes is safe and can even be fun as you learn to supervise yourself in real-time.  As a mixed-culture person, I’m all about difference (think feeling like a duck out of water), so I’m ready to help you explore your own unique style as you take this very effective approach and make it your own! And, I’m told, I can be direct, so you’ll never be left guessing!
